An Amazing Plan to Rescue You
From the very beginning, God had an amazing plan . . . and that plan was to rescue you. As we study God’s Word in the Bible, we find that His plan not only offers a secure place for us with Him in Heaven, but also provides a blueprint for living on earth today. His precepts, commands, and teachings are as relevant now as they were 2,000 years ago.
What is God’s Plan of Salvation?
God’s love for you is immense! He provided a Savior—His own Son, Jesus Christ—to assume the pain and suffering of your wrongdoing, and pay the penalty for your sins through His death on the cross.
On the cross, Jesus atoned for all sins—past, present and future. Because of His great sacrifice, we can be rescued from the consequences of sin forever! All God asks is that we believe that Jesus is God’s Son, repent of our sins, and live for Him. God gives those who believe the assurance of eternal life in Heaven with the Father.
Romans 3: 21 – 26
Why do I Need to be Forgiven?
Sin is a willful, deliberate violation of God’s laws and commandments. It separates us from God. From the first time Adam and Eve disobeyed God’s command in the Garden of Eden, they knew they had defied God, and tried to hide from Him. Just as our acts of wrongdoing against another person alienate us from them, our acts of wrongdoing also alienate us from God. Because God is holy, pure, and without sin, He does not tolerate sin. Our sins are like an impenetrable wall of stones between God and us.
If God does not rescue us from our sins, we have no hope. If we reject His love and grace, we have no hope for this life or the next. The world greatly underestimates sin’s consequences, roots in evil, and power to destroy those who let it go unchecked. People who will not receive God’s mercy will receive His justice. One way or the other, each of us will stand before God. If there were any other way to salvation, don’t you think God would have spared His Son? This is not a matter to take lightly.
Genesis 2:17 – 3:8
How Do Forgiveness and Redemption Change My Life?
God’s forgiveness cleanses us and restores us to Him. He tears down that thick wall of stones, so that His goodness, love and mercy shine brightly on us. Only by God’s grace are Christians redeemed and restored. They will live in eternal fellowship with God and other believers in Heaven. While on earth, they live assured that He will always be with them and guide them, and that in His strength, He will care and provide for them.
Romans 5: 6-10
How do I Receive this Gift of Salvation?
“For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” (ESV)
We cannot tear down the wall of stones between us and God. In fact, except for God revealing Himself to us, we don’t even know that stone wall exists. Could it be that He is working in your heart and revealing Himself to you?
People come to faith because He enables them to do so. Left on our own, we would never realize our need for forgiveness, nor would it occur to us to search for Him or want to come to Him. You can be sure that if He has chosen you to be His, you will become restless and dissatisfied until you rest your faith in Christ. If this describes you, pray and ask God to reveal Himself to you:
Jesus, You claim to be the way, the truth, and the life. Grant that I might be unconcerned about the cost of following you as I consider the reasons for doing so. Please guide me, teach me, and open to me the truth of who You are. Give me an understanding of You that is coherent, convincing, and that leads to the life you promise. Amen.
Are you Ready to Make a Decision for Christ?
Perhaps you have already come to a place in your life where you accept that Jesus Christ is who He claims to be, and you want to trust Him has your Savior and live for Him. Wonderful! Open your heart to Him. Tell Him first that you desire Him as your Savior and Lord. Admit your need and ask Him to forgive you. Then confess Him—name Him—as your Savior and Lord.
Eternal life is a gift that God gives in response to your turning to Christ. We do not deserve it, nor could we earn it. From the moment you profess Him as Lord of your life, you are assured a place in Heaven with Him forever!
Jesus tells us not to keep this private but to seek baptism in His name. Go to a pastor, or other Christian you trust, for help, and begin making arrangements to receive baptism.
